and lastly there …
and lastly there are other forms of media that do teach the woes of drinking. PBS in the United States has had many public service announcement concerning these issues. I think other forms of media should present it a different way. But who will pay for that? In this corporate world, charity is not a profitable business sad to say. And more people should do more in the way of media attention to educate people on this topic. I doubt it will ever happen though.

as for should …
as for should parents drink when they are supposed to be the role models? Again if their abusing it on the level of alcoholism that is a poor role model. But again, they are legally allowed to drink, and it is still the parents job to teach limits to their children such as under age drinking and what is legal and not legal. A good practice though would be not to drink in front of children, in order to not set a bad precedent for children to think they can drink because mom and dad drink.

those are entirely …
those are entirely different social issues that would be a whole other video in itself. In this video I stuck mainly to under age drinking, and the assumption that mom and dad know best. Obviously this is not always the case. So to discuss issues such as parental alcohol abuse, etc etc…I would have to delve into the topic of pyschology and why people drink in excess like that.

Hey!! Thanks for …
Hey!! Thanks for putting this together and sharing your opinion!!
What about the parents who are heavy drinkers?? do they have the right to do it?? should they, since they are the role models??
Yes companies sole purpose is to sell alcohol, but should other forms of media maybe present it in a different way to help the younger generations in growing up with this??

Good to see you …
Good to see you back. Interesting points. Incidentally beer was universally drunk in Europe for over a thousand years instead of water as the water was usually unfit to drink.

great rant an rave …
great rant an rave per usual.
i would have to side with you that parents need to step up and be parents these days. Advertising is used to make money, whether its moral or not they don’t care. It’s the parents and families job to teach whats right and wrong, not tv, and definately not advertising.

it’s a fine line on …
it’s a fine line on what does effect us and what doesn’t. Ultimately though I am not going to watch a commercial and be like OMG I have to have that, or have to do that because it was in a commerical. Buying name brand doesn’t mean advertising was the cause.
And more times then not I will out of spite not buy something that a company advertises b/c they have the stupidest commercial. I’d rather not buy their product so they have less money to make stupid commericals from.

true, but I bought …
true, but I bought white merlot because 1 it was a cheap brand and 2 I like the taste, no advertising was involved. As for the AF shirt, well thats because I’m a label whore, their advertising didn’t get me to buy it, I just wanted it…now the advertising may have gotten other people, and I’m kind of a second degree person with that. Now the Absolut bottles that was advertising. I actually hate absolut vodka, but I love the bottles and the advertising because of the art of it.
