I’ve been over seas in other countries and found that alot of people over there drink, but very few of them drink "Alot". Whereas over here, you don’t have to look far to find someone passed out, or driving recklessly behind the wheel. Why do you suppose that is? And if Europeans can be such responsible drinkers, why can’t we?
uhhhhh…. It looks like I may have asked this question in the wrong section. Oh well! Feel free to answer.
Same reason why we have more trouble controlling our eating.
Why do we Americans have much more trouble controlling our drinking than Europeans do?

I think it has to do with 21 being the legal drinking age. If we were allowed to drink at 16, we would learn our limits and learn how to be responsible a lot earlier.
But who cares people drink illegally anyway right?

That must be in your own circle of friends. That is like someone saying everyone does drugs. Well, everyone does not do drugs.

2 reasons
We work longer and harder - therefore are more stressed out and like to party harder when we get the chance.
Europeans are drinking when they are very young, so therefore it’s not as exciting as it is here - you need to be 21 yrs old and illegal things are more fun to do.
Maybe, Europeans don’t excell at anything - not even drinking?

I’m from the UK and I don’t think that excessive drink is restricted to the US. Drinking is a major problem here and it’s mainly due to cheap beer and the leniency of store owners. The drinking age is 18 but is being considered to being put up to 21. People of any age can buy beer in the UK due to shop owners wanting as many sales a possible and so kids of 14 or so are regularly liquored up. Drinking is just a passive ‘with meal’ thing for the most of Europe but in the UK it’s almost a sport, where the winner is the first one to throw up on the pool table.
