I have been relying on alcohol lately, and I want to change that. I want to treat this alcoholism. I was just wondering if going through treatment would mean never having to drink anything alcoholic ever again in my life.
The goal of alcoholism treatments is to help the person go into abstinence. It's advisable that you don't consume any alcoholic drinks in a long span of time. This doesn't mean that you can't drink alcohol ever again, just that when you do so, you'll be sure to do it in moderation. Excessive drinking will have you addicted again in no time, and you don't want that. If you really want to be sober, work on it. It's always a wonderful feeling when you're experiencing bliss without alcohol messing with your brain.
Has anyone ever managed to?
I have. I used to drink every single night, and if i cut down to 4 times a week, i thought that was improvement..but now i only drink maybe once a month and i only have a couple beers. it is very possible..you just have to change your way of thinking, and get yourself out of the situation that is causing the alcoholism..
I am doing a paper for my Health class about alcoholism treatment programs. I want to find detailed information about it. I have been searching on the Internet but everything I find are either too short or it lacks information. I just don't trust the information in them too. My teacher required to have just one website as a source. Can you recommend a good website?
You are correct. There are many websites out there you can access but you can't be very certain if you can trust them. I have included some links here that may help you with your paper.
To answerer 1: Actually, it is often heard that drinking in moderate amount cuts the risk of coronary problems. However, it is usually stated that this is not the reason for someone who doesn't already drink, start to drink. I don't think that the question is stupid although I am skeptic concerning any benefits of alcohol
To answerer 2: What is examined in these researches is alcohol in general, although red wine is mentioned to have strongest effect, which is explained (hypothesis) by its alcohol and additional phenolic components.
Not to drink at all. The saying, "everything in moderation" is a load of bull. If we didn't have junk food at all that would be the healthiest option by far. Humans are not meant to consume the junk so common today, it's not natural.
Edit:
You're talking about red wine reducing risk for coronary heart disease, not alcohol.
Edit 2:
Even if that is true, the negatives outweigh the benefits.
